Mauro Beca
From a very early age I had a passion for sport, but specifically for Futsal and Taekwondo.
Growing up, I played for Charter Standard Football Clubs in Portugal and at the age of thirteen I joined the Odivelas FC Academy (Portuguese club) for three years.
I moved to the UK when I was seventeen and was fortunate to have trials at Bolton Wanderers and Bury Football Clubs. Unfortunately, due to persistent knee injuries, I had to give up on my dream of becoming a professional footballer and decided to undertake a Sports Development degree at University. It was here that I obtained a range of coaching awards including multi-skills, football, basketball, boxing, disability awareness, cycling, badminton and dodgeball.
Since 2005, I have been working within the sports industry and more particularly, in football. In 2005, I went to the USA to work for the MLS Camps - the largest sports coaching company in the USA - for a period of 6 months. Whilst there, I acquired a great deal of experience in coaching football and organising Sports Camps.
On returning to the UK, I worked for the Ball Hall as a Futsal Development Officer and football coach, and Manchester City Council as a multi-sports coach.
I have found all the work that I have taken part in very rewarding, but having the privilege to work in behavioural difficulty and specialist schools has probably been the most gratifying.
I now feel I am equipped with the knowledge, skills and confidence to operate my own sports coaching business successfully. I am fortunate to have met Liam Loynd who shares my passion for sport, coaching and making a difference to the lives of all children and young people, and together we are proud to represent Multi-ACTIVE.
