Educational Advisor

As an example of our commitment to achieving and maintaining educational excellence in all PE and sports programmes, Multi-ACTIVE are delighted to announce Mr Ian Lowe, currently Head Teacher at Topcliffe Primary School in Birmingham, in the role of company Educational Advisor.

He has also supported schools in special measures and has gained a huge insight into the inspection process with over 14 inspections with Ofsted and HMI.

Ian LoweIntroducing Ian

Why have I volunteered to do undertake this role?

I have over 15 years in Primary education and over that time PE and sport has fallen off the agenda and become less prominent in the Primary curriculum. Furthermore, the quality of teaching has been, at best, problematic. Since experiencing the quality of PE and sport provision from Multi-ACTIVE, I strongly believe that ALL children can realise their potential through high quality sports delivery, whilst developing essential physical and life skills. Indeed, in all cases during inspection, Multi-ACTIVE have delivered high quality sport and been praised by Ofsted and HMI.

What can I offer?

As the Educational Advisor for Multi-ACTIVE, I see my role, primarily, as...

  • Giving educational advice to Multi-ACTIVE, its staff and franchisees to support and maintain the quality of their teaching
  • Assisting in the protocol of schools and helping Multi-ACTIVE, its staff and franchisees, develop strategies to be flexible and meet the needs of the school, to ensure coaches are an asset to the school
  • Assisting coaches in their understanding of the key policies that need to be adhered within school, including Child Protection
  • Ensuring that coaching and assessment of pupil progress aligns with the school curriculum and children make good progress and achieve high standards in sport
  • Supporting staff and franchisees in developing and understanding of teaching methods and then assessing and supporting high quality lessons to ensure they are progressive and stimulating. This includes high quality lesson plans that are based on clear assessment that meet the need of the individual child
  • Giving advice in supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), especially autism, in inclusive lessons

The ethos of Multi-ACTIVE is very similar to mine in that it is important that all children should experience fun and accessible lessons, in a range of sports, that will motivate and stimulate them to continue to participate in sport and pursue healthy lifestyles. The quality of provision is critical in my support of Multi-ACTIVE. The children at my school love the PE and sport that is delivered and my children attend the holiday sports camps. That is how good they are!
